Twilight

There is a certain time of day
The sun sends out its final ray
The edges of the earth grow dark
Then all at once, behold a spark!

A twinkling light winks from on high
Another joins it in the sky
And soon a million, billion stars
Sing out a single aria

The velvet of the dome above
Rings with a heav’nly host of love
And for all my uncertainty
I bow, confess, eternity

My doubting heart, my sceptic’s mind
Fall to their knees, for faith is blind
And through that dark, unfailing night
Sure as death, then shines the light.
