Winter solstice

A brilliant beam of honey sunshine
kissing the top of my head
My coin collection glistening
for what its worth
A tall neem awaiting its turn
for the warmth, swaying its
canopy every which way

I ask for the truth, not easy
to find when summer is
around the corner.

What is brighter than
a cloud shadowing the sun?
What is more lovely than
a leaf falling in the rain?
What is more alive than
a rock visible in deep space?

I ask for a way, not easy
to find when winter has
frozen the tracks.

And I fail. Oh, how I fail
