To F. F.

To F. F.

But just it is, Nature should coynes use
In setting higher price
Upon Her Fairest Marchandise
Thus Mortalls to abuse
Whilst they for Bewty, not for vertue chuse.

Far 'thin the bowells of the Earth doth lie
The pretious Adamant
(Which for our Pride we cannot want)
Whilst with neglect thrown bye
The Pibbles are and Flints promiscuously.

If Gould like Corn as Corn like Gould
Did grow above the ground
Then would't not be of such renoun
For I have heard it towld
How Easy thinges at easy rates are sowld.

'Tis not the Holly, or the Misseltoe
'Cause allwayes green disclose
The spring tides treasure; I suppose
If but a Rose should blow
'Twould more invite my fancy to think soe.

Doe we not hide the Myrtles tender sett
Both from the Could and Heat
That it may neither freeze nor sweat
But Fragrancy begett
Which may proclaime all savours counterfett.

And can we think wher soe great Vertues run
In soe great Bewty too
To win at first before we woe
That never can be don
Fair Troy endurd a seege before't was wonn.
