I have lived here before.
I’ve crawled
From beneath that porch
And met the bright sun.
I’ve wandered the narrow
streets up and down
the steep hills.
The high school over there
Expelled me

Then took me back.
I skipped rocks on the river
Each year further out
The river becoming darker.
I was the child
In the optic yellow rain coat
Crying on the first day of school.

I think I’ve lived here before
Passing through late one night
Hurrying toward home.
