One Night in a Rain Storm

337am Satruday morning
Sitting on my porch
The sounds of rain
A peel of thunder
A flash of lightning
increasing winds rustling tree leaves
soft tinkling of chimes
sounds growing more aggressive as the storm strengthens
A boom overhead, the earth's vibration
And all i think of is you
*
Listening to the sounds of a storm
A mournful train horn joins the chorus
Why do train horns sound so sad?
As if traveling was heartbreaking
What's heartbreaking is that I'm not traveling
That I'm not on my way to you
That is reason for sorrow
A reason to cry in the night
*
The rain has stopped
Thunder faded
The leaves are still
No more flashes disrupting the black
The chimes silenced
The train horn dissolved into the traveling miles
Some might call this peace
But i don't find it peaceful at all
The world goes quiet
I'm left with all this noise inside my head
I prefer the storm
