A Moai head sits on my chest
gazing yonder, beyond the horizon…
               ever watching, ever waiting,

Lying on a funeral pyre
I toss and turn and couldn’t sleep
Streams of tears flow through my eyes
Molten lava gushes through my veins,
Yet, like a flower I yearn to bloom
knowing well I’ll soon wither away,
Like the soul embracing a life
knowing well it’ll soon fritter away.

A wandering mind
A restive spirit
    tethered to a diminishing soul
an aimless journey
an undefined destination,

O destiny, what a fate have you
    preordained my life to?

Nights torn to shreds
     Showers of brimstone
            burn holes on my head
Days tied into Gordian knots
     Games of tug-of-war
drag me into the daily grind
Roller-coasting on the seesaw
            between hell and heaven,
A whirlwind of murky thoughts
     swirls in my mind
            I’m unable to unravel.

Neither I’m able to live lively
     nor able to die decisively.
