Thoughts lapse into
Panicked state -
Serial relapser
'Work the program'
'Keep coming back'
Words spin in my mind
A sudden pattering at
The front window
Interrupts -
A small bird has flown in
Through the doorway
And is now trapped
Frantic to save herself
She flutters
Finding only failure
I am on my feet
Urgently propelled
To help her
I open the window
Gently guide her out
And there she goes!
