I stand alone, a lone star in the night,
A golden blot above a sea of eyes.
The wind roars, sending gusts to kill my light,
Or perhaps it carries the people’s cries.
I can’t know if they want to dim my shine,
Or maybe they wish to see me succeed.
Either way I chose to straddle this line –
And now I have no choice but to proceed.
Buoyed by the empty cries of the ocean,
I walk a line that halves the world below.
Left or right – come interrupt my motion;
But in the end, each way would kill my glow.

If I fall, would they remember my glow,
Or would I be consumed by the seas below?
