For two whole weeks
The world was quiet and empty
I thought I’d lost something –
My tongue, my hands, my vision
You said I travelled from another world
Maybe that’s the reason
I lost all of my senses
In the meanwhile, I dissected birds
Picked the seeds from their bellies,
And hung their skulls from roof beams
Keys also dangled from these beams –
One bent, one broken
A tall one missing teeth
A desiccated dragonfly, a wasp
And a mask with strings of plastic pearls
Strung with molars at the ends
These things all kept me company
Until the sky came barging in!
I wrestled with the feeble door
Struggled, and there it was –
At last,
I can smell you on the wind again...
