Oft ' have Court Ladies at Assemblies made
Their Jests of Citizen 's and filthy Trade ,
But as you've made a Merchant of the Sun
From Heaven to Earth his trading Voyages run
Miss Fig may venture now to go to C — —
Nor longer be a Tinsel Beggar 's sport;
Her Brilliant Dress , displays prudential Care ,
And whilst our Park Camelion 's live on Air,
Great London 's Trade has made her rich as fair .
To gain her Smiles the Garter'd Suitor strives,
And Mortgages are paid by City Wives.
Then to be wealthy of Importance made,
Indulge no Son in vain Parade,
But bind them out Apprentices to Trade.
Then tho' in no Embroideries they shine,
The hundred thousand Man with Dukes may dine,
For all Degrees and Stations worship Coin ;
No more let's scorn the Tradesman 's humble Birth,
Remember he's deriv'd from Sin and Earth ,
And as of antient Pedigree can boast,
Let Trade and Navigation be our Toast .
