Alone

by NiaB2

Tick-tock the clock reminds me.
Time comes everyday,
Unlike a message from a friend.
Who cares anyway?

I fit in a group,
Actually, quite well.
I am an entertainer, a jester.
I’m content as far as you can tell.

When the day is over,
I’m alone.
“I’ll see somebody soon.”
But another day passes,
Another day of classes,
That’s over by noon.

The smile on my face has turned upside down.
And months will continue to pass,
‘Til I find contentment in life again,
Some that I’ll have to make last.

The days remind me of who I am --
Not as great as I always thought.
Was the spark in my eyes a facade
Of the “meaning” that I brought?

Tick-tock the clock reminds me.
Time comes everyday,
Unlike a message from a friend.
Who cares anyway?
