BLACK CAGE

by Araxie
In my black cage I lie
Longing for the clear sky,
For the shore as my bed,
For the sun as my light.

In my black cage I stay
Where the smell of reek creeps
I breathe yesterday's air,
I drink yesterday's tear.

In my black cage I cry.
My driest blood reaching,
Reaching my trembling lips
But no sound to my ear.

In my black cage I watch
White roses break the lock
But I fix it again---
The cage I live within.
