Father holds child
There behold the drumbeat of your heart
With apprehension whilst I wait to hear
Another pulse confirming where you are
No tape could measure how I stray from here
So whilst you’re sleeping let me breathe again
Bringing with me words of sacred might
Between the gentle thudding that’s maintained
Descending to where my heart and soul recite
For long ago, before your smile shone
A Prophet purified in angels’ light
Received those words, let anxiousness be gone
When caring for beloveds holding tight.
Grateful to Allah, may He be praised
By the sacred verse the fears allayed.
