A hindered slanted walk
Or shorter retracted arm
A slow speech of talk
Or another different from the norm
It’s overlooked by the kid’s affected warmth
 And Innocent charm
Of a divine calm  
To any who mock, God has you on alarm
 
Your special need’s kid is not a mistake nor a curse
These little ones have the make of God’s worth
Challenged on earth
But God’s Heavenly cause
 
Down syndrome
Or Autism
Provide a Sound loving home
And she and he will grow just like the other kids
A parent’s joy, because of her, because of him
 
Your daughter is more angelic through her needs
Christ-Like as tender meek
Your son is more heroic through his shortcomings
Godlike as only he can be
Bravely unique for all to see
 
Your special need’s kid is not a mistake nor curse
These little ones have the make of God’s worth
Challenged on earth
But in heaven God’s princes and princesses 
The gift of to teach us compassion    
And Illuminate the missing pieces
Within us 
 
Love your special needs child ever more
All the while
So they are assured, like all children
They too are meant to smile
