Herdsmen in Benue

Wake up!
They are here again!
Quick get the children!
Be quiet!
Hushed tones...
Tiptoe... tiptoes...
The massacre is wanton,
The Benue valley floods,
Blood stains everything,
Full to the brim
Dripping ...drip...drip,
Slaughter the unaware,
Annihilate the subjects,
The head squirmingly revokes anti-grazing bill.
Hahaha...just ants
Lets squash them out of our valley
Kill till they are gone
For they occupy our heritage.
Pregnant women can run no more,
Infants cry in confusion,
Revealing hideouts,
And more slaughter
The sky takes on a new hue, red.

Relatives in the capital city revolt,
Peaceful protest metamorphorses
Yielding police, army versus civilian rage
Only in response to
Negligence, muted governance
Hospitals bursting with corpses
Ones who just days ago,
Tore at chicken laps,
Christmas celebration,
New year celebration,
Lie now as still corpses.
Gashes and slashes,
Humans de-appendaged,
De–limbed, beheaded,
De–humanized
For the love of cattle herds,
Cow versus human
And the scales weigh in cow favour.
The law of nature is felled
The man falls for cows to feed,
To live,
And governance nods in glee.
For where an army is fetered in place
To defend the villain
Against the innocent,
Governance approves annihilation
Nodding in glee,
For the true head spues forth villainy
And the figurehead weeps in private,
Having sold authority
Before ascending the great throne;
So the movie appears before viewers.
Blood by Fulani herdsmen gunfire,
Blood by figurehead incapacity in governance
Inability to execute office,
Blood all round,
Mother Nigeria wails in throes of agony,
May God have mercy on His people!
