Illa Cara / This Beloved (Latin)

meus tibi inanis amor est
est verum tristis vetus est
non melior dicere, mea cara

in viam olim converitis
et praeteribimus inter se
osculum amicitiae foris

te es semper meus flos
ego nunquam tua apis
ne iuvenis erunt ullus

se centiorem faciunt est alius
sed nesciunt – nemo
necum copulent anima duo

cara, tu es semper mihi gratus

Translation:

My love for you is unrequited,
that's the sad and simple truth.
There’s no sweet way to say it, my dear.

One day we’ll meet each other
on the way and pass
without so much as friendship’s kiss.

You shall always be my flower;
I will never be your bee.
Nor any man.

They all say that there's another,
but they don’t know – there is none;
not when two minds are one.

Beloved, you will always be my treasure.
