As it once was

We danced in the ballroom
Me and my own
A glitter of ball gowns
A mingling of clothes
The crowds they were silenced
For such was my goal
To feast on your heartbeat
To dwell in your soul

The balls have now faded,
And so have the clothes
The youthful blazing
Now burns like deep coals
We dance by the moonlight
In the chilling cold
But how can I feel chills
In the warmth of your hold?

We dance oh so boldly
We dance it by rote
But we dance oh so slowly
For we are now old
Dexterity fading
Like memories of old
But I will always remember
Your face, oh my love
