Nothing is ever fixed yet nothing is ever broken

Mirror
I have a mirror in my room
Doesn’t everyone?
As I sit in front of it and let myself bloom
I can’t help but wonder
Why I feel so gloom
Is it the pretty lies it tells me?
Or the truths I presume?
I find myself trapped
Stuck in this vacuum
Of needless neediness
I know I’m wearing a costume
That alone I can’t undo
And so I’ll resume
Like the rest of us do

Princess
Paraded and traded
We are in flocks like cows
Demeaning our values and giving us up
For anyone to touch, milk, and sell
The only thing we eat is what is given
Not given a choice even to live
Known for weakness, yet they want to prove it
Break us down and keep us hidden
