The Perspective

WHEN YOU FEEL LIKE GIVING UP ON YOUR DREAMS
—having tried your best but just won’t, it seems—
think that you’re choosing the pain of losing
over the pleasure of persevering.

WHEN YOU FEEL DEPRESSED LIKE ENDING YOUR LIFE,
—seemingly like all meaning’s lost in life—
think that you don’t live for yourself alone,
we’re tools unto others, more than our own.

WHEN YOU FEEL GOD HAS TURNED HIS BACK ON YOU,
—having prayed hard but there came no rescue—
think that there’s that “reap-what-you-sow” for you;
obey it and God has paid heed to you.

WHEN YOU FEEL NOBODY SEEMS TO LOVE YOU,
—kin and friends alike have abandoned you—
think that you’re made to love, not to be loved;
the more you love, the more you will be loved.

WHEN YOU FEEL LAZY DUE TO A SMALL PAY
—not equaling your work in anyway—
think that it’s your worth that decides your pay;
raise your credentials and you pave the way.

WHEN YOU FEEL BORED WITH YOUR LACKLUSTER JOB,
—having spent years doing the same old job—
think that if you work without goals in mind,
all jobs are boring regardless of kind.

WHEN YOU FEEL SHY AROUND OTHER PEOPLE,
—thinking they’re looking right into your soul—
think that the world revolves not around you,
people rather think of themselves than you.

WHEN YOU FEEL QUITE INFERIOR TO OTHERS,
—believing that truly they’re much better—
think that we’re all diamonds in this world,
rough or polished, we’re all in the same mold.

WHEN YOU FEEL OPPRESSED DUE TO YOUR COLOR,
—being viewed like you’re some plague or horror—
think that it’s God who gave you that color;
keep your chin up, to God’s will, give honor.

IN SHORT, ALL BITTERNESS CAN BE MADE RIGHT,
through perspectives drawn from productive light.
Indeed, two ways to make life ever bright:
“Either see the right things or see things right.”

Amen!
