In Quest of Love

What must be done? What will betide?
When paths are strewn with thorns all along
and clouds of doubt unfold dire and strong.
How in our hearts love would forever abide
to prompt our thoughts and be our guide,
Ah, on the days when all things go wrong?

Oh, while here with sorrow I pine,
Will you be by my side when I call?
Whenever I but stumble, falter and fall,
Throughout this strenuous path of mine
brings your wandering feet to my shrine,
Whisper a prayer, let a tear drop fall.

No one I see yonder my woes to share
If death but comes my way tomorrow,
Let my songs tell my tale of sorrow
A burden no heart should ever bear
This malady not uncommon or rare
none can lend nor keen to borrow.
