Shifting Gears

My mind shifts gears quickly,
Advancing from first to sixth
Accelerating involuntarily
Spontaneous

Life appears on the side of the road
A glance pauses the commotion
Inside my head creating clarity
The invisible becomes visible

Undefined flashes form images
Deer graze, eyes down, ears attentive
Exploring the possibility of crossing
Hungry for food and the taste of adventure

As images merge and blur to colors
Meditations satiate my mind
Creating pictures of children giggling
Strange to hear sounds in snapshots

Movement abruptly invades my memories
A squirrel scurries, scans, twists, returns twice
While continuing forward motion
Changing direction without conscience choice

All sights, sounds, senses piece together
Producing a reflection of life past and present
A moving picture in isolated moments
By a mind in motion
