So heavenly, yet so earthly

Have you met an angel before?
Well, I have
She's not the regular kind
Quite unusual from the ones you know

She has no wings
Nor flaming sword
Neither does she wear a halo
Nor a dazzling white garment

I know an angel
One very unique of her kind
Her skin glows caramel with melanin
Her hair so woolly and beautifully coarse
It defies gravity
And her face adorned with weighty marks of aging

I know an angel
Sent from above
Like a sunflower,
She stands tall even in the darkest times
And finds hope in hopelessness
She radiates like a thousand rays of sunshine

Her eyes burns with true love
Her smile so soothing
In her arms, I drown helplessly in the waters of peace
So heavenly yet, so earthly

I know an angel
And when her time is up here,
I'm rest assured that heavens finally found her
They'll take her home and sing hallelujah
I have an angel
I call her Mum.
