The Storm of the Bay of Bengal

by vasavan

The roars of thousands of
trumpeting elephants
rent up the air suddenly;
Waters of the bay of Bengal
blue now turns, murky suddenly,
And the waves rise higher and higher
As if to touch the ominous thundering
clouds overhanging;
Bamboos in the bush, not far away
sway and sway as if to touch the ground;
these dancing bamboos in distress;
Boughs of the mango trees
in the grove ,not far from the beach,
brittle,though strong, break and fall
in great numbers;and the ground strewn
with fallen dry leaves ; and these are
the witness to the monsoonal thunderstorm
of the bay of Bengal- the predator storm
that wreak havoc year after year, and yet
continue to visit the bay with an apparent
hunger, insatiable,perhaps, borne out of
a God,s curse !
