She has completed two poetry mentorships at the Poetry Kit Online and was awarded the highest grade, a student can receive (an A with the comment "distinctive"). She has mastered over 30 literary devices and several processes. She volunteers and teaches intermediate poetry when she has time. One of her students performed a poem she taught her to write, and it went on to place as a finalist in a big poetry contest. She was awarded a stipend when she was 25, and have been featured in many festivals, including "The Seen and Heard Poetry Festival" in Atlanta Georgia.
She has completed several courses in poetry, including, "How Writers Write Poetry," and "the Summoning the Dead "Walt Whitman Poetry Course at IOWA University Online. She says, I have so much poetry written, that I am ready to hire a secretary to organize the manuscripts. My average turn out now is 15 poems a week (at least two a day), I am currently increasing it to 5 poems a day. I am working on a book project that I really love." I have secured a good editor, who edits my work when I am just too busy to do it. She has achieved a certificate in poetry from the Sharpened Visions Poetry Course at California Institute for the Arts Online. She is currently completing another writing course at IOWA University Online. Author Jeff Friedman, a highly recognized writer, and writing professor have read her earlier work, and called her "A Talented New Poet"
She has a pile of references letter of poets, and a bunch of readers who support her poetry, 25 regular readers of her work, have pre-reserved copies of her upcoming book (2019) and have volunteered to give reviews for it. Victoria also has several letter type comments, from students and teachers complimenting her work. Victoria is 4th child of gifted kids in her family and is the mother of a gifted child, that was recently awarded a 60,000 trustee scholarship, to major in photography, at a great college. Victoria is also married to a very intelligent man, (with an obviously high I.Q.). Her family greatly supports her work. She says I do not write a poem about something unless I can feel it rush through me at the start. If the first stanza is my momma's gravy, just flows out of me, I fall in love with the process of finishing it, and I know it really must be.
One of her poems are on the short list, in the Poetry Kit Online Summer 2018 poetry contest.
Victoria Hunter was also chosen as a distinguished writer for the Waco Culture Arts Festival.
