Child's Play

I woke up before my alarm went off, when the sunlight hit my face.
I was confident for my exam today, which was usually not the case.
If you ask “Why?”
Well, that is because it was the only subject I didn’t hate.
This time, Getting an ‘A’ was actually in my hands,
In the subject of bits, bytes, algorithms, and programs.
The computer exam it was, today.
And for me, this subject was merely child’s play.
I smiled ear to ear as I thought, “Today would be a great day.”
I changed into my uniform and tied my hair up.
I went down for breakfast, and reached for a coffee cup.
I took my bag and left for school,
The weather outside was calm and cool.
The moment I reached the campus,
I saw everyone scribbling like maniacs.
“They’re idiots”, I thought, and brushed it off,
And reached to open my bag.
Just as I took out my computer book,
I started earning weird looks.
Just then, the bell rang and we moved to the exam hall.
Yelling could be heard, echoing through the corridors,
As invigilators’ names could be called.
I sat on my seat and tried hard not to squeal,
Out of all mixed emotions, I didn’t know what to feel.
I was as happy as a prisoner,
Who was bailed out of jail.
But the moment I saw the paper,
I froze, and my face went pale.
My soul escaped my body,
And I stared without blinking.
As I saw the signs and numbers, I felt my stomach sinking.
So this is why I saw my fellow students so aggressively scribbling.
I had seen the schedule for the wrong day,
It was the Mathematics exam today,
Which, for me, was defenitely
Anything but child's play.
