Love and Hate
Love and Hate
I love writing poetry.
I hate writer’s block
so many words and ideas
coming to the door
knocking, but not knowing
how to walk on
in gracefully.
Kind of like you and me.
I love your energy
I hate your lack of intensity
no sense of urgency
to quench this ever growing
fire I seem to be kindling
for you.
Like my lava lamp.
I love the constantly shifting liquid
I hate that it gets too hot
red, molten lava
swirling, getting close but not
touching, structure yet
no form.
Like questions asked.
Never fully answered
or maybe too many
answers to discern
which ones fit
neatly into
the blanks.
The lava lamp, a question, us.
I love the combustible possibilities
I hate the inherent uncertainties.
It's like writer’s block
ideas knocking but not knowing
how to walk on into becoming
us gracefully.
