Love Came Uninvited

Love came uninvited      
gate crashed
the dinner party of this life
demanding my attention.
Trashed
the cherished plans
painstakingly compiled
and smashed
my sacred icons
shook foundations
took everything I knew
and threw it in the air.

Dazed
I stumbled to my feet
and saw the old walls
of my world razed
to rubble
I saw the sky
the open fields.
Amazed
I took the path
I had not seen before
down which love now
invited me.
