Mukkoottis

by

A spade skins the yard.
But fresh *mukkoottis appear
within a fortnight.
Like a leitmotif.
Who can stop the regenerative force?

Though tiny,
they, too, bloom bright.
Man knows their value,
and uses them.
Yet they are kept away from the garden.

They have lost sense of season.
Their flowers are yellow,
move (not dance) in the breeze.
They are thornless,
yet they often live among thorns.

*Mukkootti (in Malyalam language) is a plant.
