My Dearest Aphrodite

How cunning of Aphrodite,
To bestow upon me the curse,
The crown of fire and desire,
Where my passion bleeds onto my skin,
Marring me with her dainty pinks and red,
That brand me the traitor to those I’ve loved,
Casting me out, saying I’m sickly sweet.
Oh my dearest Aphrodite,
Were your doves also crying red,
When they were sent away from their nest?
Bestow upon me your grace,
Sweet Aphrodite,
Bring me to my knees,
And turn my tongue into white wings,
Let me flee into your strong arms,
Where before I can even be graced by you,
I see that your curse upon me,
Would become my blessing to be.
