Not Just Another Day

I crouch down by the side of my desk.
A lock down.
This time for real.

I am hiding here,
Scared.
I text my mom,
l love you I say.

Who is it I wonder?
That kid in art class?
The jock that plays football?
Or a person who feels invisible
No one, someone.

I pray-God rescue me.
Rescue us.
Rescue the shooter from him or her's anguish.
My Father who art in heaven.

We begin to evacuate.
One by one,
Single file,
No talking.

We are safe,
But it's not over.
Our heads are full of questions.
Our classmates gone
Why I ask...
But there is no answer.
