An Ode To Summer

The sun kisses my freckles,
Gentle as the wind,
This breeze is contagious,
I, too, flow through the warm, humid air,
The season my spirit soars,
Longing to be with the sun,
My distant lover, so often hidden from me,
Almost forbidden in the dark, cold days,
The clouds a barren wall between us,
But now we embrace once again,
The world is clearer and brighter,
And thus so are my eyes,
Glitter pools reflecting back to greet me,
And gentle waves to bid me goodbye,
Oh how my heart sings and yearns,
Forever seeking the beautiful summertide.
