Vision

Vision

I took off the blinding sunglasses
with shaky hands, on buckled knees
re-examined my bloodless gashes
I bled out long ago
I’m free

Free of the rusted chains
used to torture and bind me
looking back
I see the faceless, broken figure
crawling on the fire blackened ground
behind me

Tired of being terrorized
tired of feeling caged and crazed
I've been stumbling and bumbling
like a drunken toddler
limping out of this darkly twisted maze

I thought the sun was dead
but it was just me
it’s ok now though
because finally
I’m free.

reminds me of that quote by rousseau: "man is born free but everywhere is in chains". a vision like this of freedom is truly a liberating dream, which can be lived in art even if it's difficult to achieve in life.

Oh my gosh! You all honor me so with your kind words! Thank you truly and deeply. I love that comparison ajay. Really is something to think on. It makes me look at this work in a whole new light. Alan, yes sometimes you do. You may be battle worn, even weary, but once you realize the freedom is in your hands, you can really let go and finally be free. I certainly appreciate that MyNah. Especially since your work this week is epic beyond words! Again thank you my friends. You've made my day
