Classic Poem

J ANUS , father of the year,
Double-faced and many-eyed,
When he saw our victor near
Gazed on still unsatisfied.

" To your god and lord" — said he,
" Four times Nestor's years I give." —
One thing more we ask from thee:
Give him too thy life to live.
