Autumn Musings

Summer leaves are fading,
Sere ones flitting by;
Frequent clouds are shading
Heaven's o'er-arching sky.

Gusty winds are blowing
Through the shortening day;
Evenings longer growing,
Winter's on his way.

My Spring too is over,
And my Summer past;
Daily I discover
Life more overcast.

But not pain nor weakness
Can the soul enthral,
Which, in faith and meekness,
Looks to God through all.
