Corporis Anima Tutela

Corporis Anima Tutela — 1652

As two great fleets of potent neighbours strive
Whither shall win the Seas prerogative
Affections move in man and would controwle
The active pow'rs of Body and Soule
Heer the fond worlds allurements doe invite
To waygh, hoyse sale, and follow appetite
Ther with the glass of promise we descry
The various perills of its flattery
And fearing shipwrack wher such dainger's layd
Conclude the body safe when Soule's imbayd.
