On Good Friday-1659

How are we tost in minde
To finde
To whither Passion
Sorrow or Joy we ought to be Enclind
For Him who died our Propitiation

Our Sin for which He came
Casts blame
Upon Our Soules Betrayd
And Craves Contritions Tear t'expunge the same
Yet by His Passions Greef ought t'be allayd

For what to me or you
was due
By Mans Transgresion
He underwent, yet Death and Hell orethrew
And now for Us makes intercession

Let's for our Selves alone
Make mone
That stil for want of Power
In Grace are left soe to Temptation
That we afresh Afflict our Saviour

This Day then bring to pass
A Glass
Wherin we may descrye
Cause of Rejoycing whence Salvation was
And for Our Frailties to Lament and Crye

Reason of Sorrow and Joye both heer
Appeer
Whilst we consider howe
We have offended Him to us drew neer
And Thus to's Foot stoole Earth the Heavns did bowe

Then let a Canceld Debt
Beget
Such Husbandry and Care
That All our future Industry be set
A work in This Redemption to have Share

That the Owld Man of Sin
Wherin
Thus Lost and Damnefide
We had from Our Originall being been
Be with the New Mans Suffrings Crucefide

That Powrs of Darknes may
Guive way
And Lewd Affections cease
Since This became the Reconciling Day
That with the Father the Sonn made our Peace
Let's now take heed noe more Those debts increase.
