1. Hail our incarnate God! Let heaven and earth resound;
2. Of the Redeemer's birth, Angels the news proclaim;
He leaves his glorious abode To tread on earthly ground.
He humbly comes to dwell on earth, And Jesus is his name.

3. Tidings of joy and peace
Are spread in his great name;
He is the Lord of Righteousness,
Almighty to redeem.

4. The shepherds long to know
The mystery profound;
With haste to Bethlehem they go,
And there the Saviour found.

5. Now Lord, effect the end
Of thy humility;
Into our waiting hearts descend,
Our perfect Saviour be.
