But how can the mathematics of the stars

But how can the mathematics of the stars
Concern the issue of class against class?
Do homo sapiens and the citizen
Affect each other in that shrewd way then —
So that to advertize as cheap as dirt
The former, must the latter's prospects hurt?
Can you drive better bargains with our sex
After dosing it with a " little man" complex?
Can Time, a metaphysical concept,
Play any part within the marxist sept —
Time seen as " the soul of Space" — hailed as a god —
Does that affect the average voter's lot? —
Naif and natural such query is,
For such hegemony of thought as this,
Though common to the asiatic mind,
Is foreign here, where we are less refined.
We think what goes on higher up the street
Or lower down will not untune our bleat!
Yet how a new cosmic picture might impose
Its pattern upon the gutter even — how it arose
Out of a passion of more pervasive sort
Than, proper to metre-stick or to retort,
Among pure technicians may be met with — that
Is surely not too hard to arrive at?
Ponder, how " scientific thought", One-way,
Has changed your life for you. The Quaker may
Supply a clue — great money-men 'tis odd
To find in the same skin as men-of-god!
And metaphysics, though they play no part
In your life, do in protoplasm start. —
N'insistons pas! be hoodwinked if you must.
But I'll confine myself to this last thrust:
" Emergent" or " Creative" Evolution
Has got some bearing on " red" revolution.
And Time, that fleshless concept, gets a corpus
Upon the social plane, and puffs like any porpoise.
Read " progress" for the t coordinate —
And for its causal principles read " fate"
And for its evolutionist drugged-tea
Read more than impero — read deity!
