Breadths of green and blue on the shallow water,
Tufts of lighter green o'er the dune-lands gray,
Soundless deeps on deeps of a colour blended
Of green and blue and gold, in the sky to-day.

Topaz fires and red on the shallow water,
Rose and emerald mixed on the dune-lands gray,
Flames of crimson, gold, and Tyrian purple,—
This was the sunset blazon yesterday.

Opalescent tints on the shallow water,
Pink and green and blue on the dune-lands gray,
Lustrous lights in the sky, a pearly splendour,
Pageant this, of many a perfect day.
