Of Judgments

Before you Criticize with Words Unkind,
Look Thrice for all the Good that you can find.

T HE Stones that Critics hurl with Harsh Intent
A Man may use to build his Monument.

Before the Singing Thrush the Donkey brays
And begs for Criticism, seeking Praise.

W HO praised the Bad work falsely, is the one
To blame for Future Work as badly done.

T HE Verdict must be nearly Right
That pleases Neither Party—quite.
