Laura. The Toyes of a Traveller. Or. The Feast of Fancie - Part 2, 21

The Grecians usde to offer up their haire
Unto their Rivers, whom they did esteeme
As mightie Gods, and them great honor bare,
As if no vertue small in them had been:
Doo thou the like (sweet Laura ) unto mee,
Who for my love deserve a greater fee.
Thy golden tresses on me doo bestow,
Who hold whole Rivers flowing in mine eyes:
Yet would not I thou off shouldst cut them tho.
Doost muse, and aske how this thou maist devise?
Ile tell thee: Give thy selfe to mee for mine,
So shalt thou give uncut thy tresses fine.
