Great gift of God, harmonious sound,
Descend and fill these virgin walls;
Here breathe on us thy peace profound;
Here lift us by thy mystic spell
To heaven's gate where thou dost dwell;
Here rouse us by thy trumpet calls.
Break through the bonds of time and sense
And waft the spirit far from hence.

Come in soft melodious measure,
Give grateful rest and tranquil pleasure.
With even movement gladly show
The path where steadfast youth should go.
Enkindle aspiration here
To lead us to a higher sphere.
