March

The snow lies
firm and white -
The sea gleams
summer-blue -
Flaming sun
and ice-clear air
burn in tired eyes -
Sea-birds breed,
hoarse starlings screech -
The night comes
black and deep -
Boats follow
shoals of herring -
Over the land in the west
a star sparkles greenly -
