Classic Poem

Me nive cadente petijt mea Julia, rebar Igne carere nivem nix tamen ignis erat

Snow falling Julia some at me did throw
When I thought fier could not have lodgd in snow
Yet found it did and those by nature foes
This way made friends: soe musick doth compose
Her concord out of discords, 't hath been seen
That tragique warr the cause of peace hath been
Soe they seem relatives, yet either die
In th'others birth, or its prosperity
And in these Elements ther's found this fate
The one the other, doth exasperate
Or tend themselves t'each other and wher one
Rules as predominant the other's none
For if once fire be kindled in the hart
The snow turnes then to fire and beares its part
Alike if snow prevaile to quench the fire
It turnes to snow affection and desire
But 'twas the nobler Element did command
In this snow-ball sent from her snow-whited hand
Me to consume: when my brest covered
With snow soon had that fire extinguished
And soe their natures int'each others turnd
Fire waxt in snow could, snow in fier burnd.
