The Stones cryin' out Gimme Shelter
n' other guy has an attachment
to his sweater
Charlie had a thing for Helter Skelter
But I'm lookin' beyond all that
to something better
N' I ain't askin' for beauty n' riches
'Cause wisdom's the principal thing
Not even curin' itches er stayin' out of ditches
that I may abide under the shadow of His Wing
that I not even be free of trouble n' strife
But that I may dwell in The House of
The Lord all the days of my life

Mamas n' Papas say safe n' warm in LA
some other guy yearns to be involved
in pure energy
Badfinger sound a little down
in Day after Day
But even if the "doors of perception"
all slam shut
I know God's got something better for me
N' I ain't buckin' for extras er tryin'
to get fillers
'cause wisdom's callin' out from the rooftop
whether time killers er leanin' on one of the
seven pillars
Uh yeah maybe only Elijah could make the
clock stop
So bottle in front of me or frontal lobotomy
or going under the knife
My one n' only desire's to dwell in
The House of The Lord
all the days of my life

That I be seen_ in the inner sanctuary
That I may glean_ from the Holy Oracle
That I get teamed_ to the yoke lighter than me
That I be weaned_ from the devilish n' sensual

Dylan had it right it's Who you serve
'nother guy proclaims he's human
n' needs to be loved
ZZ's Manic Mechanic's git ya to swerve
But though hearts'll fail n' many swoon
The Lord's placed me in a large room
so far above
N' I ain't runnin' scared chalked full of fear
'cause wisdom' s given to the simple mind
for my Lord is always near to wipe away
every tear
Seekin' n' savin' lost one like me-He came
to find
n' even if like Social D. don't git me a little wife
I ain't condemnin' Cantrell to hell-only know
I'm gonna dwell in The House of The Lord
all the days of my life.
