Sloppin' up some blueberry pie
Somethin' on my own wisdom should know not to reply
When student's ready-The Teacher appears for the lesson
Slippin' up on that ol' tightrope
My dear ol' Mom used to say it's how ya cope
Some others heard to say-life is in session
N' I shoulda read the fine print
Shoulda paid more attention in class
'Cause didn't take but a short stint
To see they did a number on my ass
Now troubles disembark like from the ark in twos
Somehow thought I'd be fine-
'cause I signed on the dotted line-
that ol' waiver for the blues

Scopin' out some sweet cherry pie
Convincin' 'em they really ought to give me a try
The teacher says what is-is-not so much objective or subjective
Scalin' up that ol' steep hill
Peter n' Paul robbin' while Mary's holdin' the till
The rest all waxin' eloquent n' stand
'round reflective
N' I shoulda got me a lawyer
I shoulda least got me a magnifying glass
'Cause they always wanna take out this Tom Sawyer
They gotta sling designed just for my ass
See trouble's never been my long lost twin-
fact is got me in a noose
Perhaps my foot was too slow-
or I just didn't get the memo-
on that 'ol waiver for the blues

N' I ain't even sure if there really even is a waiver
Thank God I got my Redeemer Lord Savior
N' this ol' tiger's been released from
a thousand cages
But read between the lines or flip the pages-either one I choose-
still can't find a waiver for the blues

Sleazin' out on some apple pie
America's mold-they say's penicillin
should we really believe that lie?
Teachers're packin'-with good reason-
'cause student's got a lesson-how to die
Slappin' up on some ol' slapstick
This ol' pony's got more than one trick
Mother Earth heard to wail-as if in travail-
bend yer ear to the ground-
yer bound to hear her cry
N' I shoulda sought me wise counsel
'Cause I'm lookin' everso dimly
through this glass
Most let time do her thing-only she will tell
Still not enough saddles to fit all the horse's asses
Now trouble's like a burning tire-
sparks upward from the fire on hyper cruise
So how can everything be all hunky dory?
'Cause obviously I didn't get the whole story-
on that ol' waiver for the blues.
