To Mr. Edmund Knevet

Except thy worthy brother, scarce I find
A Gentleman, more truely mine, in mind
Then thee; nor let opinion so ill see,
To thinke thy out-side makes me honour thee;
I meane thy ranke, or state; no let men know;
Nor my thoughts, nor thy merits flie so low:
For thou hast my affection nobly bought
At Vertues highest rate, and not for nought.
