My Cuntry Audit April. 25. 1647
Blest Privacy, Happy retreat, wherin
I may Cast up my Recknings, Audit sin
Count o're my Debts, and how Arears increse
In natures Book towards the God of Peace
What through Perversenes hath been wavd, or don
To my first Covenants Contradiction
How many promisd resolutions broak
Of keeping touch (allmost as soon as spoak)
Thus like that Tenant who behind-hand cast
Intreats soe ofte forbearance til at last
The summ surmounts his hopes and then noe more
Expects but mercy to strike ofe the skoar
Soe heer Me thinkes I see the Land Lords Grace
Full of Compassion to my drooping Case
Bidding me be of Comfort and not greevd
My Rent His Sonn should pay if I beleevd.
