To my Neph Gerr

To my Neph[ew] Gerr[ard] after his return from Constantinople and Room to Paris

Caelum non Animum mutat &c:

I hope y'are Constant and not Gibe by Change
Of mind whilst often ore the seas you range
Though through the Dardanelles you did pass
Bizantium view in Venice Looking glass
After behowld prowd Roome in Pomp and State
I guess These cause you not Degenerate
But that at your returne we may confess
You stil an honest English Hart posess
If ther be any such yet left? if none
Then you'l appeer this Iles sole Paragon
When to your God and Sovraign you prove true
And pay to Frendship what to it is due.
