Night-Fall
Rose and amber round the sun,
Lo! another day is done!
Now while soft the night-winds call,
Dews and purple shadows fall,
And upon the horizon's rim
Sleep the mountains vast and dim.
In the embrace of watching skies
Earth will rest till morning rise.
When the shadows fall for me,
Love! my rose and amber be!
And on life's horizon rim
Heavenly mountains slumber dim.
Saviour! Jesus! to thy breast
Fold me then in perfect rest;
Safe in shielding such as thine
Till the eternal morning shine!
Lo! another day is done!
Now while soft the night-winds call,
Dews and purple shadows fall,
And upon the horizon's rim
Sleep the mountains vast and dim.
In the embrace of watching skies
Earth will rest till morning rise.
When the shadows fall for me,
Love! my rose and amber be!
And on life's horizon rim
Heavenly mountains slumber dim.
Saviour! Jesus! to thy breast
Fold me then in perfect rest;
Safe in shielding such as thine
Till the eternal morning shine!
